One night around 3am, we got a nock on the door. We looked at the camera and saw it was police. They had gotten a call, and the person hung up before speaking, and this was the area it showed was coming from. so they were going door to door to make sure everything was all right. I was shocked and so relieved knowing that our police take things like that seriously and act on it. God bless the family. This one was hard.

I can't speak to this specific case but I do know that sometimes the police and the dispatch are unable to see an exact location from a cell phone, only a general area, especially back in 2008. I had a friends sister pass away in a car accident after being attacked. She had called 911 from her cell at her home while being attacked. She was unable to give her address and the police could not tell her exact address from the cell call only a general location. She escaped her attacker only to get into a car accident while fleeing. Luckily the attacker was later caught and charged with causing her ultimate death. This tragedy brought attention to the fact that our local 911 system had not been updated to be able to accurately located callers from a cell phone at that time.

After hearing the part about her fiance not being able to file the lawsuit because he wasn't legally family yet hits home because and different subject but when I lost my dad and I had to meet with a lawyer my fiance went with me and because we aren't married yet he couldn't be included in the meeting. Frankly I don't get some of these laws, rules, whatever you want to call them. It shouldn't matter especially when someone is already considered family to everyone. It's a d@mn piece of paper🤬 Just my opinion
This case seriously hits close to home. When hearing that her mom wished she had been there to answer her call, things might be different. When my dad passed away I wasn't there and I blame myself to this day because he might have been around a little bit longer, even though his health was declining. His passing was because of a fall and getting seriously injured.
My heart goes out to Brittany's family and the guy she was engaged to

Everyone: never turn your back on someone you don’t feel safe with. And try to get to a public place or neighbours or anywhere that has more people, if you can. This isn’t criticising what Brittany did at all. She might have done that or tried to, and maybe none of it would have made a difference. But if you find yourself in an unsafe situation, which I hope you never will, then maybe these could help 😞

The reason they only send an officer out if it's a land line call not cell phone was they couldn't trace the location of a call from a cell, but could from a land line. Location data wasn't available for cell phone calls to 911 at that time, so if the caller calls 911 but didn't give an address and it was a hang up call, they couldn't track down the location of where the call came from, but a land line had the phone number registered to a specific address that came thru on 911s end so they could send an officer out to the specific location.... that's what they meant by only sending an officer if the call was from a land line.

And by no means am I stating the operator did the right thing, cause she didn't! But I wanted to clarify what that statement by the 911 workers meant exactly
