This song often gets tied with the movie La Bamba but the song was released almost 30 years prior to the movie... I believe the song deserves more credit than being associated to the movie.

You know Mel, it makes me feel both. It’s attached to my father for me. He’s gone 20 years now. It makes me sad, but it also brings back the memories of his love and all he did for me. He loved the ocean, any water really. It’s a bittersweet thing to sit on beach look out into the water and remember him. Bittersweet. I think it means different things to different people. It invokes emotion the music should
