Not that my opinion matters in the grand scheme of things, but that is the ONLY time I have enjoyed that song. I never did like that song, but he did a fantastic job. He should have won American Idol that year.

I always hated this song
Good but not enough bite to it. Darin gave a dangerous/playful vibe when he sang it which gave it its edge and really worked because of the off kilter lyrics in contrast to the vibe of the song. This is a good vocal but I felt no connection to the song by Clay. Clay does a lot better with this song in his 2010 album: https://youtu.be/S89NNXmyeO4 You can just hear how much better his phrasing is, how he takes his time with each note and plays with the song. In idol there were some songs where Clay just seemed like a pro but there are others like this one, where his inexperience is evident.
